Before You Say Yes: Questions to Ask During Your Brand Ambassador Interview

Whether you’re new to brand ambassador work or a seasoned professional, it’s important to ask key questions during your agency interview. Preparing a list of go-to questions not only benefits you in gaining the proper information, but it also shows the staffing agency rep that you care about your work.

An interview isn’t just about the agency evaluating you; it’s also about making sure the agency and role are a good fit for you. Asking the right questions is a great way to help determine this.

Prepare for Your Brand Ambassador Interview

Keep it short and focused. Most of the time, the staffing management doesn’t have much time to interview, so contributing to the efficiency of the process will make you stand out from the competition.

Do your homework. Spend a few minutes researching the agency’s website, FAQ page, and job details prior to the interview. Having a grasp on the information allows you to focus ONLY on the questions that you need answers to, and then you can add any additional questions you may have.

Be prepared. Write down the most important questions to have on hand during your interview.

Smart Questions to Ask

Payment & Logistics

  • Is the payment a W2 or a 1099?
  • When is payment processed, and how soon after an event will I be paid?
  • Are training, breaks, parking, or travel reimbursed?
  • Do you offer overtime, bonuses, or referral incentives?

Event Details

  • Is the event indoors or outdoors?
  • What is the uniform requirement, and is any of it provided?
  • Is training taking place during the shift, or is it scheduled for another time?
  • Are breaks provided, and how long are they?
  • How close is parking to the venue?
  • Will I be working solo or with a team?
  • What brand will I be representing?
  • What are the key tasks of the activation?
  • What is the client/brand seeking in their brand ambassadors?
  • To confirm: the pay rate, dates/shifts, and address are “X.” Is that correct?
  • What are the next steps in hiring, and what’s the best way to follow up?
  • How will you communicate with the hired staff?

 General Agency Questions

The Takeaway

Asking insightful questions during your interview not only provides you with valuable information but also shows your professionalism, reliability, and commitment to doing your best. By asking questions, you demonstrate to the agency rep that you are dependable, detailed, and interested in establishing a strong working relationship, which are all qualities that staffing agencies highly value.
